Boulder Mountain Storm Mist

After getting pelted by rain and thunder storms, the weather finally gave us a small break during which the lake sent up the mist shown in this photo.

A fortuitous cloud-opening during an overcast day at Glacier Point allowed me to snap this shot of Half Dome.

Inside Looking Out

After finally being allowed back in to Zion National Park after the government shutdown, I went scouting for fall colors with my father. We rode the shuttle to the Temple of Sinawava and, after departing, went about 100 feet south of the shuttle stop to the river. I snapped a series of exposures that I combined into an HDR frame to allow for detail all the way through the range of highlights down to shadows. The result is what you see here.

Reflected Gold

This is taken in the same location as "Inside looking out," but it's facing west instead of South. I fell in love with the reflection of the leaves on the water. This is a series of images combined to make an HDR image.

This shot was taken after the sun had just risen, and I had switched my white balance to cool down the tones. Slow, but Steady

One of the many traveling rocks from the famous Death Valley race track. It was so much fun to see this amazing place in person, but simultaneously disappointing to see the impact that some short-sighted visitors have had. It was not uncommon to follow a trail only to find the rock that made it "missing."
