I really loved the reflective exoskeleton on this ladybug. Taken in my backyard.

I Didn't Put That Leaf There

Zion National Park is so close to my house that it's figuratively my back yard. I love the way the Virgin River winds through its canyons and formations. During the fall, it's particularly beautiful. I noticed this leaf clinging to its perch and figured it would be worth a shot. I didn't move or touch the leaf: it was really sitting right there. :)

Channel It

The Subway in Zion National Park is home to the famous "crack" seen here that continually runs with water through it squared edges.

The Lady at Dinner

I'm glad these fantastic little beetles eat aphids. I had to wait through its nap while aphids passed all around it, until it suddenly grabbed one and I was able to snap this shot.

Thin Blue Line

Another shot of the "crack" in the Zion National Park Subway.

Impressions

This photo was something of an afterthought as I hiked out of Zion National Park's iconic Subway. I was taken by the abstraction of the scene produced by the reflections between the mud waves.

No Paparazzi

Found this guy zealously defending my sunflowers. Once I moved in for the shot, he wouldn't act casual, insisting on maintaining eye contact with me. You can even see my reflection in his eyes.

Gia's Serpent

This section of slot has an almost Escher-like quality to it. It's difficult to tell what is stone and what is void.

Interrupted

ometimes, it's not the grand, sweeping views, but the details that really stop you in your tracks.
